New Struggles

We have got the site up and running. The funny part about making a website is you think everything is perfect and you have your friends look at it and they all think it's great then a week later you realize you misspelled things or forgot something important. Websites are hard and confusing. Even as an artist you’d like I’d be great with colors but the original color scheme for the website was horrible and I had to find a better one.

Now that the website works it's time to find followers and buyers. How do you find buyers you may ask…. I have no idea. I have been posting on Instagram and Facebook every day. I make reels

and post on stories. I’ve posted on Pinterest, and yet nothing. I mean no one follows me on Instagram or Facebook and I am still learning how to get those. That is where I am at, I’m writing a blog hoping to increase my internet presence. I have thought about buying ads or making ads. But, I know as a Gen Z I don’t trust stuff as much if there are ads all over for their products. Not sure why I think this way, I just know that I do.

So now I am on the hunt for how to grow my following on Instagram and Facebook because how else am I going to get more traffic to my website and more buyers?  Part of me thinks my art is just not good enough for people to buy or that it's too basic and no one wants it because anyone and their dog could make it. I mean most of my prints are images I have traced or Franinstein-ed (Frankenstein-ing is using multiple images to create a new one like Dr. Frankenstein using multiple bodies to make his monster). I love making art and I know the art looks cool but I have no idea how to convince anyone else that the art is cool or worth purchasing. I mean I made DIPA to make an art convention not necessary to sell art, right? But I do want to sell the art. I just have no idea how.

It has always been hard for me to market myself to my friends and family. Like I don’t want to just be like “Hey family wanna purchase my art?” But how else am I supposed to get more followers than word of mouth or people sharing my posts? But how do I get those posts shared? How do I get above 10 followers? I mean I know my personal account has followers because I follow people first most of the time. Is that the secret? Should I go follow 1000 people on Instagram in hopes they will follow me back?

Well, all I have learned is: that I know nothing and have a lot more to learn. So stay tuned for next week when I hope to have learned something.
